Windsor
Castle has been a royal palace for over 900 years. This being
one of the Queen's favourite palaces. She often stays here for
pleasure, as well
as giving many state banquets in her role as Head Of State.
When visiting
Windsor Castle you will be able to wonder around the State
Apartments, and view the works of Rubens, Holbein, as well as sculptures, tapestries and armour.

Along with
visiting Windsor Castle you can take in St George's Chapel where the
late Queen Mother is resting, and is also the setting for many
Royal Weddings the last being Duke & Duchess of Wessex.
A visit here will
take a good 2-3 hours and then you could take in a pub lunch
along the river Thames.

Although built in 1714,
Blenheim Palace is probably most famous for
being the birth place of Sir Winston Churchill, born on the
30th November 1874 at 01.30am.
Even though this was not his official home he spent many happy
years here and in 1908 standing by the lake he proposed to his
wife, Miss Clementine Hozier. Part Blenheim Palace is dedicated
to a Churchill exhibition, including his birth room, pictures
and statues.

Winston
Churchill and his wife are buried just outside Blenheim Palace
in a nearby churchyard at Bladon, beside his parents Lord and Lady Randolph Churchill.
Blenheim Palace
consists of many exciting rooms, like the Great Hall, Sallon
(which is a grand dining room with wonderful murals and
paintings by Louis Laguerre). There are three glamorous state
rooms, with an extremely long library.
During your visit to Blenheim Palace, take the time to visit
the gardens surrounding Blenheim Palace, which consist of a
tranquil Water Terrace along with the peaceful Italian Garden
and stunning Rose Garden. |

It
was Queen Victoria who first opened Hampton Court to the
public.
Today's Hampton Court Palace is a place to visit for everyone. There are guides
in period
costume throughout the Palace, along with entertaining plays
set in the many different apartments and the Chapel Royal.
The Chapel Royal shows off the
wealth of the interior and the Great Hall is home to Henry VIII's
tapestries, along with some of the Queens private collection of
Renaissance art. The magnificent
16th century Tudor Kitchen is a must for the children along
with the Great Maze. |

Hampton Court Palace is set within 60 acres and surrounded by
Tudor, Victorian and Baroque gardens, including their famous maze and the oldest grapevine in the world
planted in 1768.
Hampton Court Palace has been home to many Kings and Queens over the years.
Built for Cardinal Wolsey, in 1514. When his power declined,
Henry the VIII was quick to take it over and enlarge the Palace.
During Charles I reign the Royal Palace was used to imprison him
and fell into ill repair.
When Charles the II took Hampton Court over
he repaired the damage.
During the reign of William II the Hampton Court was
rebuilt to the designs of Sir Christopher Wren, further
enhancing some of the greatest Tudor architecture within
Britain.

Founded originally by Cardinal Wolsey and re-founded by Henry VIII in 1546.
Christchurch
and Oxford Cathedral, which is the smallest in England, is
also the college chapel.
Presently, famous for the Great Hall and hall stairs,
which were in the Harry Potter films. Previously it had
appeared in Alice wonderland story.
Open to the public and becoming the most visited
attraction within Oxford. |

SHELDONIAN THEATRE
Here
you can see one of Sir Christopher Wren’s first masterpieces,
built in 1669 to the design of a Roman theatre. He designed
the theatre during his time as a professor at Oxford teaching
astronomy.
Today it is used for concerts and ceremonies by Oxford
University.
