At just over a mile long Chelsea Embankment offers you a fine view of the river
and an unobstructed view of Battersea Park. There is a fine statue of Sir Thomas
Moore (a former resident of Chelsea). What sets it apart from other London
Statues is that the hands and face are golden.
Set back from the embankment is the Royal Hospital, which was founded by Charles
II and designed by Wren. Its function today is still the same. That is to
provide a home for veteran soldiers (approximately 425) over the age of 55
years.
