This is an
exact replica of Shakespeare’s open-roofed Globe playhouse that was originally
built in 1599.
The building is made out of green oak timbers joined by wooden pegs, mortise
and tendon joints. The plaster is made of sand, goat’s hair, and lime. The t
hatched roof is only one in London since the Great Fire. The open-air theatre
can hold a 1000 people on wooden benches and 500 standing. |
