The term Southbank is
loosely used to describe the area of land lying between Westminster
Bridge and Blackfriars Bridge, although it should only be applied to
the Festival Hall complex. The last five years have seen a huge
growth in the popularity for this part of London. It is now seen as
one of the trendy places to live, with former office blocks being
converted into luxury apartments and new restaurants opening every
month. |

During the summer there are different cultural concerts run by Coin
Street Community Builders at Gabriel Wharf on weekends that are
free. At the National Theatre, open-air plays are performed.
