HISTORY OF
THE BUILDING.
William Wilkins, designed the National Gallery, on the
north side of Trafalgar Square in 1832 –1838. The original gallery was
very narrow and has had many extensions put on, the most recent one
being sponsored by J Sainsbury plc and was completed in 1991. In
front of the gallery are two statues one of King James II in Roman dress
and the other being a bronze statue of George Washington, which is a
copy of the original in Virginia. |

LONDON FOR
KIDS
National
Gallery
Have been
here many times on school trips, and have enjoyed my visit every time.
When we go we
have a guide who explains what to look at and what you should be able
to see in the picture which does help.
There are
children work sheets for different ages to fill in or colour.
