Big Ben is the name given to the Great Bell of the clock,
which resides inside St Stephens Tower connected to the
Houses of Parliament, this is best seen from Westminster
Bridge.
The great bell is most famous for seeing in the New Year,
where crowds
gather at Trafalgar Square to
hear the bell chime.
It wasn’t until 1913 that an automatic winding gear was
installed. Until then it had taken two men thirty-two
hours to wind the clock up.
Although the clock has stopped a few times over the years
it still remains accurate to the second.
