There are three little rooms, which were used as a police
station. In 1855 during the Hyde Park Riots, police hid inside
the rooms (using it like the Trojan-Horse) and surprised the
rioters, snatching a number of the ringleaders. This Police
Station was closed in 1950.
Officially you are not supposed to walk through the middle arch
as it is reserved for important people and members of the Royal
Family. But today’s Royal family don’t seem to mind. |
