The
church history dates back to the 8th century and King Offa. In
1633 it was rebuilt in Gothic style, but was burnt down during
the Great Fire. Wren rebuilt the church in 1682 and the tower
was added later that century.
During World War II bombing raids the church got hit leaving
just the tower standing. In 1995 the remains of the church were
demolished leaving the tower sitting alone in the middle of the
road.
Today the tower still stands alone, an island in the middle of
the road, and is now a private house.
