This picturesque
church, which sits on the North East Corner of Trafalgar Square,
was built in 1726. The spire is taller then Nelson’s Column.
Famous people
connected to the church are: -Charles II, who was christened
here.
Nell Gwyn (Charles II’s mistress) is buried here.
Thomas Chippendale (cabinetmaker) is buried here.
Jack Sheppard (highwayman) is buried here.
During the lunchtime
you can visit and listen to concerts free ofcharge. During the evening you do have
to pay for the concerts.
There is also a
brass-rubbing centre within the church.
Since 1914 it has also
been a shelter for the homeless.
To the rear of the church there is a market.
