The Wellington museum is otherwise known as Apsley House, or No1 London,
which was the home of Arthur Wellesley who was the 1st Duke of Wellington
and lived here until his death in 1852. The house was given to him by the
Nation for his success in battles in India, Spain and Portugal. Although
this made him well known His most important battle was when he defeated
Napoleon at Waterloo in 1815, after which, his popularity soared.

The museum has a vast collection of medals, swords, china
and plates, uniforms, furniture, trophies and armour associated with the
Duke of Wellington. There is also a wide selection pictures in his
gallery, along with a marble statue of Napoleon by Canova. |
