Scott, has seven tiers and stands at 175ft It was finished in

memorial, was not erected until 1872.
The outer pillars are made of marble statues of groups of
people from different continents.
The base is white marble and has 169 life size characters, from
different careers, painters, architects, poets, musicians and
sculptors are but some.
Then on the corner of the podium are statues of different
companies.
Then there are bronze statues of different scientists.
On the spire in niches are more figures of Faith, Hope,
Charity, Humility, Prudence, Justice, and Temperance these are
done in bronze gilt.
Although J.B. Philips designed many of the statues, quite a few
were designed by different individuals. |
