In memory of the 24,000 men of the Merchant Navy and fishing fleet, ‘who gave
their lives for their country and have no grace but the sea’.
The names of sailors who lost their lives are inscribed on bronze plaques
mounted on the walls.
There is also a plaque on the floor (opposite 10 Trinity Square) to mark the
spot where executions took place during medieval times, along with some of the
names of those who were executed here.
