HISTORY OF THE BUILDING.
George Sampson built the original part of the bank in 1734. But
within 60 years Sir Robert Taylor had added on two new wings
either side of the main entrance. Soon after, Sir John Soane was
appointed to extend the bank again to its present size of 3
acres. He placed an outer wall around most of the bank, which
still remains today. The bank was again rebuilt in 1920, adding
more floors.

MUSEUM.
This museum tells you the history of a working bank; the
highlight was to see the gold bullion bars worth about £72,000
each. Also within the museum they have an interactive computer
for currency dealing. The museum took about an hour to tour, and
the children enjoyed doing the activity sheet, which were well
done in, 3 different age groups. After completing the sheet they
were awarded a badge.
