The Museum takes its name after a former Lord Mayor of London and Master of the
Ironmonger Company, Sir Robert Geffrye, who left the 14 almshouses, as a bequest
for the widows of his Ironmongers Company in 1715.
The museum was
built in 1914 and contains rooms, which are furnished, dating from the
Elizabethan time, up until the 1930’s. It also includes many portraits from old
London Houses.
