The museum that opened
in 1979 stands in the gardens of St Mary's Church.
In the grounds are the
tombstone of father and son called John Tradescant, who was 17th
century gardeners to monarchs. They also travelled to America,
Russia, and Europe to collect specimens.

The museum consists of
the history of gardening throughout Britain, which is shown by
different plants, tools and documents.
The Garden Museum is beautifully set out with Lambeth Palace
next door and is well worth a visit. |
