GREENWICH.

Greenwich is 6 miles down river from Westminster Bridge and the Houses of Parliament. The best way to get there is by catching a boat from Westminster Pier to Greenwich.

Here you can see the Maritime Museum, Royal Observatory, Cutty Sark, Greenwich Park and the Queens House. Standing empty on the riverbank is the old Royal Naval College, which consists of four blocks built in 1694 by Sir Christopher Wren.

In the town of Greenwich there are many little shops with a nautical theme along with an indoor market that becomes very busy at the weekend.

As for eating and drinking, there are quite a few pubs, which serve food. There is also one that regularly has jazz sessions at the weekend.

When visiting here, you can quite easily forget that this is still part of inner London.
